Congrats Tom Lamont and BVT!

Tom Lamont of Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School (BVT) deserves a loud round of applause!

Tom Lamont, Painting & Design Technology teacher at BVT, was recently honored as one of only three national winners of the eSchool News K-12 Hero Awards! The Hero Awards honor educators for their exemplary K-12 success using innovative education technologies. In addition, eSchool News, a national K-12 education technology publication, highlighted how Mr. Lamont “emphasizes workforce readiness through hands-on learning and industry experiences.” He was first nominated by Tech Ed Concepts Inc. (TEC), then selected as one of the 10 Finalists, and then awarded one of three National Winners! Nominations were judged by a panel of education experts, including Laura Ascione, eSchool News editorial director, and Eileen Belastock, CETL, Belastock Consulting.

eSchool News has profiled and interviewed Mr. Lamont about his Winner Award and has curated several media pieces to share the news. He is featured in the 2023 Hero Awards eBook which is hosted on the eSchool News website and promoted to their full K-12 audience. He received editorial exposure on eSchool News, was highlighted in the eSchool News podcast Innnovations in Education, mentioned across several eSchool News social media platforms, and was featured in a full-length eSchool News story as well!

“I am so pleased Tom and his program are getting national recognition for the impact he has on his students, school, community, and local industry!” stated Justyn Constant, Vice President and Marketing Manager at TEC. She continues, “I nominated Tom for this award because of the amazing real-world experiences he gives his students using professional equipment, like Roland print-cut machines, and how he encourages and empowers them to tackle a variety of projects using a ‘learn by doing’ approach. This applies to his fellow educators, too! Tom is always excited to ‘get a squeegee’ in the hands of another educator and help start a program in another school.”

“I really want to support my students, class, school, and industry as much as I can. I want our program to grow and inspire others to follow, and I would love to help them get there.”    – Tom Lamont

TEC is the Roland Academic Representative in New England. TEC, Roland DGA and Mr. Lamont have collaborated on several projects together including conference presentations, a summer workshop for educators, and webinars. TEC is also involved in the BVT Program Advisory Committee. We look forward to more professional development activities together including another course this summer educating educators (stay tuned)!

Congratulations to Tom Lamont and the entire BVT Community!

Also thank you eSchool News for the opportunity to highlight Tom Lamont, his exceptional program, and his commitment to education!
