Job Description: TEC is looking for an energetic sales professional to represent our unique product line to schools and businesses in the New England region. As an outside sales representative, you will be the first point of contact with potential customers through prospecting and creating sales opportunities. Your goals will be to retain our current customer relationships, reactivate inactive customers, and gain new customers. We have an established database of contacts that has been cultivated over the past 30+ years of being in business! To excel in this role, you should embody a proactive, goal-driven mindset, and possess a commitment to achieving success for yourself, and for the company. This is a base salary plus (unlimited) commission position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote TEC product lines to all of our market segments: Grades 6-12 STEM programs, technical high schools, career centers, community colleges, universities, and local businesses.
- Identify and target prospects in education and industry in your region.
- Prepare quotations and proposals for software, equipment, and services.
- Build and control the sales pipeline: make prospecting contacts, follow up with prospects, qualify opportunities, set appointments, make sales presentations, and close.
- Be able to deliver sales presentations via phone, web demonstration, or on-site.
- Attend regional trade shows, seminars, and open houses.
- Maintain accurate communications and records in the Customer Relationship Management software (Odoo).
- Stay current with industry trends and competitors to maintain a competitive edge.
- Travel regularly to visit customers/prospects and to attend approximately 10 tradeshows per year (maybe more or less). Some overnights would be necessary.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to travel regularly within the region.
- Pipeline growth and management skills.
- Questioning and listening skills.
- Ability to learn, understand, and explain technical products to educators and end-users.
- Experience selling to the education industry or sales of technical products is preferred but not required.
- Experience with PC Skills, Windows, Microsoft 365/Office.
- Experience with Odoo contact management software is beneficial.
