Hardened Steel Nozzle Supports High-Strength Materials and New 0.4mm Nozzle Allows for Greater Detail and Enhanced Surface Finish

Exciting news from Ultimaker!

We are excited to announce the latest addition to the Ultimaker 3D printing platform…the updated and improved Ultimaker print core CC! Now available in 0.4 and 0.6 mm nozzle sizes, the original Red CC core has been replaced with a design upgrade for optimized performance!

Design improvements include:

  • A new steel nozzle with a titanium nitride coating which is extremely hard ceramic material. it is excellent for abrasive composite materials and provides improved reliability.
  • An aluminum heating block replaces the brass block which provides better conductivity and therefore it reaches its target temperature faster.
  • The steel heat-break is now made of titanium and is twice as thick! This adds strength and also lowers the conductivity thereby reducing the chance of leaks.

With a wear-resistant, hardened steel nozzle, the Ultimaker print core CC unlocks the power to print high-strength applications with extra stiffness and rigidity, using a wide range of composite materials from the Ultimaker ecosystem.

And then there’s the new nozzle size! Ultimaker heard their customers’ need for printing parts the require higher visual quality and accuracy, especially for metal FFF 3D printing. Therefore they introduced the smaller-sized CC 0.4mm to the Ultimaker print core family.

Compatible with both of the S3 and S5 printers, the new Ultimaker print core CC was made to be more reliable, robust, and ready to print composite materials (including glass, metal, and carbon fiber)!
